Ray, since you've appeared in Faesthetic before (is that the right name?) you should hook up with this guy's company to make a custom Ray Frenden sketchel bag...

It'd be cool.

I've been using a Pentel Pocket Brush (brushpen) and some shitty synthetic brushes. I'm vegan, so I have to skip the sable brushes.

I find the process really relaxing and a lot less strenuous than its computer equivalent.

Mike, Manga Studio EX 4 has a lot of Universal appeal. Nudge.

Ah, inky fingers! I remember when I first used a Windsor-Newton series 7 no. 2 brush. I had used various brushes before, and just fell in love with that brand o' brush. Got a sweet deal via Dick Blick on them a while back -- $6/each. Scooped up a lot of the beggars.

Ray, I found that brush inking is kind of meditative. Is it the same with you? I mean that after a hour of so I'm not thinking about the line, I'm just creating it. Not like with a dip-pen where I'm constantly aware of the pressure I'm putting on it and get a lot of mental static that I don't have with a brush.

I just hope that MS 4 rocks socks in an universally (heh) good way!

I jump back and forth between a few. Lately, I've been going analog a lot. So a real brush and ink is probably my current favorite. I have the stained hands and grimy looking fingernails to prove it, har.

Ooh, excellent Ray. I like that you are a beta tester for MS4 and not some dilettante illustrator! Let us know your thoughts when you are no longer constrained by your NDA.

iso, I have a series of Voorhees related drawings, yup.

AWC, I like Sketchbook Pro for sketching. For finished, high res art, it leaves a little to be desired. I haven't tried 2009 yet, thought.

Mike, I am a beta tester for Manga Studio 4, both Mac and Win. I can't say anything because of the NDA, but I can't wait for December. MS4 rocks socks!

Solid work of late from you, Ray.

For some reason I have an urge to see Phantasm again. Thanks!

And Manga Studio 4 for the Mac (UB, I believe) available in December!

Ey, Frenden, today I have seen a new app for sketch that maybe can be useful for your inking.

I am speaking of Autodesk SketchBook Pro 2009. With this app, draw with the pen really seems real! The interface is consistent and you can draw without scare about the next bug (like in Painter X).

As I say before, SketchBook Pro is focused on sketching and you can't paint like in Painter. Anyway, I think it is a solid option for draw and inking.

Voor-hee's a jolly good fellow, Voor-hee's a jolly good fellow...

Nice to see you getting back to him. I seem to recall a whole story you were drawing a while back. Am I mistaken?

Really like the muted, two-tone background (trees, house,..) ..subtle, yet "situating".
Nice stuff, Px.
