Suicide Silence Painterly Tee Art
Posted February 27th, 2009 in Illustration.
I just made my second-ish color painting and I’m pretty happy with the results. Whereas the typical line based design takes me a single business day to complete, this took closer to three. It was my first time doing painterly, full-color work and I learned a lot; I hope I get faster!

A veritable HEAP of process and detail shots after the jump.
Initial sketch.
Work in progress.

I’m assuming this was done digitally…with Painter? Very nice!

I really love the work on the teeth. But actually I have to say I love your sketch even more than the actual painting :) great work!

Robert, digital, yes. Painter? Nope. Photoshop CS4. I’m really liking the arbitrary, non-destructible canvas rotation and the improved brush algorithms.
Aetoric, they’re a metal band.
Smashill, really? Heh!

A really great piece.. I see you’ve stayed true to your roots, looking at the detail shots you used line to help describe form and light.. really interesting, thanks for posting!

Thanks! The client bailed on this one, so it is up for sale. I might revamp it a bit and sub it to DBH or somesuch.

Could you make a process video of yourself doing something like this? (the next time it comes around of course)
