Hear me out. I use a different layer for every spot color. If you check "preserve transparency" in Painter or "lock transparent areas" (I think that's what the checkbox on the layer palette is called) in Photoshop, you can fill the layer and all the aliasing remains intact. This lets you quickly swap out color schemes in a non-destructive way! All the alpha channel info remains intact. I did, but that doesn’t change things. Hear me out.

I use a different layer for every spot color.
